Thushani
graduated in law in 1995 and was admitted as an
Attorney - at - Law of the Supreme Court of Sri
Lanka in 1996.
Between 1996 and 2001 she practiced in the areas
of Family Law, Debt Recovery
& Criminal Law in the dual role of Barrister
and Solicitor in Sri Lanka.
In 2001 she migrated
to Australia and completed the Graduate Certificate
in Applied Law in the University of Queensland
in 2002. She also received the Graduate Diploma
in Legal Practice from the Queensland University
of Technology in 2002 and was admitted as a Solicitor
of the Supreme Court of Queensland in July 2002.
She served for a short while as a research assistant
in the Centre for Public International and Comparative
Law at the University of Queensland before commencing
her career as a Solicitor in Queensland.
